It is a well known face that most smokers will try more than once to quit smoking. Many people start smoking or experimenting with smoking in their teens and it may be several decades before they finally quit the habit.

Natalie’s story is all too familiar “I tried my first cigarette at the age of 15 (actually that’s not strictly true, I was eight, but didn’t try another one until I was 15 so it doesn’t count). So, I was 15-years-old, hiding in the bushes at school trying to look cool and trying even harder not to choke or vomit. It was vile and disgusting and made me feel ill, but I was one of the stronger ones and determined to learn how to do it. Twenty years later I was still doing it.”

Natalie tried many different methods to try to quit gum, herbs, lasers, needles, inhalators, lozenges and patches even some crazy pills none of these worked. Even hypnotherapy on several occasions. Then Natalie went to see Allan Carr in June 2003;

“Five hours later I walked out feeling….feeling….I didn’t know how I felt. Had it worked? How would I know? What was going to happen next?

And that was it. Nothing happened. No awful withdrawals, no anxiety, no inability to function, I just simply didn’t smoke anymore.

Ten years later and I’ve never touched one. No desire, no cravings, no longing. In fact I can’t think of anything worse than having to smoke a cigarette.”

What is Allen Carr’s Easyway method?

Allen Carr's Easyway was founded in London, England, by Allen Carr, a former chain-smoker. In July 1983, after countless miserable attempts to quit, Allen discovered what every smoker dreams of: an effective, immediate and easy way to quit. Since then an estimated 10 million smokers have succeeded with Easyway's live seminar, books and webcast program.

Allen Carr's Easway works because the method approaches the problem from a smoker’s perspective. Allen Carr uses his intimate knowledge of smoking to guide you through the quitting minefield and out of the smoking trap for good.

How the Easyway method works:

Contrary to what many smokers think, it is not a lack of willpower or nicotine addiction and withdrawal that makes it difficult to quit.

It’s the beliefs we have that the cigarette gives us some pleasure, benefit or crutch and that we’ll be deprived of this pleasure or crutch if we don’t smoke. As long as these beliefs are in place, stopping smoking involves deprivation and the quitting process becomes a tug of war.

Allan Carr’s method is all about changing you mindset. Smokers only become Nonsmokers when they want to live as a Nonsmoker. So if you have tried everything before and you still want to give up, then maybe it is time for you to visit an Allan Carr clinic. What you learn will not only help you quit smoking but it could change much more in your life.

Since quitting Natalie trained to teach the Allan Carr method.

Editors Note:

Almost exactly five years ago I met Natalie while we were both involved with a story on Aging and Smoking on Today Tonight. She told me about the Allen Carr method, I was a die hard smoker who had been rolling her own for 33 years. I'd tried many times to quit and failed dismally every time. Until Allen Carr. I, like so many others who have learnt the Allen Carr method, haven't had a craving, or a cigarette for five years. I was delighted to have this opportunity to promote Natalie and Allen Carrs Quit Smoking method, it really does work, try it, your lungs, in fact your whole body, (not to mention your bank balance), will love you for it!
